Approved Signs for GIs and AOs

On September 8, 2020, Rospatent’s Order No. 94 dated 3 July 2020 comes into force and specifies the visual aspect of geographical indication (GI) and appellation of origin (AO) protection sign. Since that date, manufacturers of Russian traditional goods can add these special symbols to demonstrate that a GI/AO is dully registered and its owner enjoys an exclusive right over the GI/AO.

Rospatent’s Order No. 94 entitles On the Approval of GIs/AOs Protection Marks in the Form of Emblems was registered with the Russian Ministry of Justice of Russia on 28 August 2020 (№ 59556).
