Russia and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Strategic Partnership in IP
In a meeting held in Moscow, Yury Zubov, Head of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent), and Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Swailem, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), signed a bilateral Roadmap for Cooperation.
The Roadmap outlines key collaboration areas, including harmonizing legal approaches, integrating digital tools between the IP Offices, training experts, and exchanging patent information, best practices, and specialized knowledge.
A series of educational events focusing on the national IP ecosystems of Russia and Saudi Arabia is planned to support the growth of the business communities in both countries. Moreover, the parties agreed to align their positions and collaborate on IP matters within the framework of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
"The comprehensive partnership lays a solid foundation for effective cooperation and the sustainable development of our two nations’ innovative ecosystems," stated Mr. Zubov, Head of Rospatent. "We are confident that the implementation of this Roadmap will open new avenues for strengthening trust and strategic partnership in the field of IP between our States. Our joint work to harmonize approaches, implement digital solutions, share expertise, and train specialists will establish a unified environment for supporting inventors, entrepreneurs, and research institutions across Russia and Saudi Arabia."
Dr. Al-Swailem acknowledged Rospatent's pivotal role in shaping the innovation ecosystem, stating that the success of its programs and initiatives is clearly reflected in the rising number of IP applications filed.
