Russia is in the top seven countries for emerging vision assistive technologies inventions
According to the WIPO Technology Trends 2021 report, the Russian Federation occupies the seventh place in terms of the number of patent applications in the field of emerging vision assistive technologies from 1998 to 2019, with a total of 448 applications filed.
S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution ranks the first organization in the world among universities and research institutions in terms of the number of patented ophthalmic inventions. From 1998 to 2019, the Institution filed 159 applications for inventions in Russia.
The United States tops the list of patent offices by number of patent applications filed 998 to 2019 for emerging vision assistive technology with 1665 applications. WIPO follows with 1079 PCT applications, while the third, the fourth and the fifth places are taken by China (978 applications), the European Patent Office (813 applications), and Japan (582 applications) respectively.
