How Rospatent fights against coronavirus and helps inventors protect intellectual property
According to the Head of Rospatent Grigory Ivliev in an interview with “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”, filing applications in electronic form is more convenient, faster and cheaper, but for different types of applications from 20% to 90% of sets of documents are received on paper. When two similar applications are received by the Office, one through an electronic service and the other on paper, according to the law, priority will be given to the one whose application was sent to Rospatent first, no matter who, when and how it was sent. If two similar applications arrive on the same day, a complex reconciliation system is launched; in this case, no one will have priority. Rospatent launches new digital services. The program for online registration of transition of law is currently undergoing testing. By the end of the year online registration of applications filed in electronic form will be launched: the system itself will inform applicants about the progress of consideration, about comments on documents that can be quickly eliminated. In June 2020, a new search engine for patents will work and in July for trademarks.
