Russia entered the top ten countries by patent applications
According to the report of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), as of the end of 2019, the Russian Federation was ranked 9th among the world leaders by the number of filed patent applications - 35,511. In terms of trademark applications, Russia is in the second ten, but may rise higher in the future, since the growth rate for the year constituted 16.5%. The growth rate of applications for industrial designs is 22%, which is the highest rate among all countries in the top twenty.
According to Rospatent, the increase in the number of granted patents was due to the reduction in the time period for processing applications, as well as implementation of electronic services. To further contribute to the success of inventors, the Office plans to launch new digital platforms and services in 2021.
