Grigory Ivliev: Rospatent is preparing new services for inventors

According to the Head of Rospatent Mr. Grigory Ivliev’s statement in an interview with «Rossiyskaya Gazeta», Rospatent proposes to reduce the income tax for the companies producing patented products, as well as to start granting temporary tax exemptions for inventoried IP assets. Rospatent considers the issue of IP objects creation a necessary part of all scientific and technological government programs. A law allowing filing applications with 3D models attached will enter into force on January 17, 2021. Russia is the current Leader of the WIPO 3D Task Force.

A law equating rights of patent attorneys and advocates is planned to be adopted in 2021. Due to the introduction of new work methods in Rospatent the number of considered applications for inventions exceeds the number of filed applications by 4 thousand, backlog applications from 2019 have been processed. Processing the applications for inventions related to COVID-19 pandemic is considered key priority. A special information section is created on the Rospatent website. The Office has begun registration of geographical indications. Rospatent launched testing of the new generation digital platforms of the state information system, providing fully electronic interaction with authorities and examiners, and will introduce them into operation by the end of 2021.
