The Cabinet of Ministers approved a "roadmap" for the development of the business climate in the field of intellectual property

The Government of the Russian Federation has approved a «roadmap» for transforming the business climate in the field of intellectual property, according to which the provisions governing development in this area will undergo a comprehensive modernization. The document includes activities that will stimulate technological developments, strengthen the rightholder protection, and open up new opportunities for managing rights to the results of intellectual activity.
It is planned to form a legal basis for granting electronic patents and use of 3D-models in patent applications, exemptions on income tax on license fees are provided, as well as the ability to use exclusive rights as a contribution to the capital of startups. For each area of work, bills are being worked out, and some of the regulatory acts will be approved by the end of 2020.
