Yuri Zubov took part in the Moscow State University conference on Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Policy

 

Speaking at the conference “Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property: Legal Policy Issues” on April 23, 2021, the Deputy Head of Rospatent Yuri Zubov made a presentation devoted to patenting issues of artificial intelligence. He outlined the trends in filing applications for inventions related to AI.

Mr. Zubov also presented methodological approaches to substantive examination practiced in Rospatent for inventions in the field of AI, adducing examples of patented inventions.

Projects aimed at implementing AI solutions into the work of the Office, such as intelligent search services scheduled to be launched at the end of 2021, were presented.

It was noted that Rospatent actively takes part in AI-related discussions organized by WIPO, exchanges experience on AI issues with international partners, while examiners of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property regularly share experience with the colleagues from the European Patent Office on existing examination and classification methods of AI inventions.
