The Origin of the Products will be Checked: the Strict Supervision is Applied to Distribution of Goods with Branded Origin

ANO "Russian Quality System" started to check the products for compliance with the certificates for appellations of origin (NMPT). A similar measure is planned for products that receive certificates of protected geographical indication. According to the head of "Russian Quality System" ("Roskachestvo") Maxim Protasov, the test studies showed that the goods under the same name, referring to a specific region or method of production, are produced with the use of different recipes and in completely different regions of the country. According to Rospatent, which verifies compliance by manufacturers with the requirements of appellations of origin, it can use the research of "Roskachestvo" as the evidence of lack of conformity of goods with claimed characteristics to provide compulsory termination of rights to appellations of origin.
