Rospatent will get access to the goods labeling system data

Rospatent, the Ministry of Industry&Trade of the Russian Federation and the Operator of the Goods Labeling System signed an Agreement on data exchange. This will make it possible to check the goods labeling system data against Rospatent’s data on registered trademarks, GIs and appellations of origin. As a result, the relevant authorities will more easily identify the companies that use trademarks to which they have no rights, as well as the goods they trade.
In an interview to Izvestiya Head of Rospatent Grigory Ivliev commented that it is crucial that trademark owners be protected so that they can expand their businesses. This applies well to the cases of use of geographical indications and appellations of origin.
