Nanowire photon emitter

Patent number: 2781531

The invention is a nanowire made of semiconductor material which serves as a functional element of quantum emitter; in other words – a nanoscale source of emission of single photons. The device allows either to receive a package of signals of different wavelengths at once (which increases the density of transmitted information), or to receive individual signals separated in time (which expands the possibilities of coding information).

The invention can be used in quantum cryptography and information transmission systems, as well as systems for quantum computing and data processing.

There are previously known attempts to use nanowires as a functional element of a transmitter. However, none of those technical solutions achieve the density of transmitted and processed information, signal protection and security of information transmission, as is achieved by this invention.

Device for measuring the state of the atmosphere

Patent number: 2783068

The device allows for more accurate atmosphere measurements when operating in difficult meteorological conditions, such as acute temperature differences, vibration, rain, snow, etc.

The improvement, as compared to the prototype, is achieved by the optimal placement of two pairs of ultrasonic sensors acting as emitters and receivers, as well as temperature and absolute pressure sensors. Ultrasonic sensors are connected to a device which measures time interval, which in turn is connected to a computing device. The computing device processes the incoming information and determines the state of the atmosphere.

The invention can be used in various meteorological installations for real-time monitoring of the state of the atmosphere.

IP BRICS Examiners’ Training

On November 7-11, 2022, examiners from the IP Offices of the BRICS countries participated in the annual examiners’ training program. Each of the five days was devoted to a specific topic, on which the examiners shared information and their experiences.

During the first and second days of the training, examiners and Offices’ representatives discussed national policies and mechanisms implemented to improve the quality and efficiency of IP services. These included the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) program, the functioning of the PCT system and quality control of examination.

The third and fourth days were devoted to the examination of patent applications in the field of pharmaceuticals and biology. Discussions focused on the issues of patenting medical devices and drugs during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Offices discussed their approaches to the organization of examination under conditions of restrictions imposed by the pandemic, to the reduction of time for examination of applications and prioritization of COVID-19-related inventions.

The final day of the internship was devoted to green technologies. The participants presented various ways to support small and medium-sized enterprises working in this field, discussed the peculiarities of patenting and commercialization of eco-friendly inventions and issues of sustainable development.

WIPO Working Group on the Legal Development of the Madrid System: the 20th Session Concluded

On behalf of the Russian Federation Rospatent participated in the 20th session of the Working Group on the Legal Development of the Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks, held in Geneva on November 7-11, 2022.

Russian inventors at INEX 2022

The India International Innovation & Invention Expo was held November 15-20, 2022 in Margao (Goa, India), where more than 300 inventions from 30 countries were presented.

The exposition of Russian inventors was organized by the Archimedes International Innovation Club with the assistance of the Moscow division of the Russian Society of Inventors and Innovators and the Defense Industry Assistance League.

Inventors from Kuban State Technological University, Tver State Medical University, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, as well as Research Institute of Automation, Informatization and Communication for Railway Transport JSC were highly appreciated by the International Jury and were awarded with gold medals.

Russian participants held successful negotiations on the development of cooperation with representatives of educational institutions and scientific organizations of India and Iran.

Cooperation in the IP field – Eurasian integration

On November 18, 2022 at the headquarters of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) in Moscow the Head of Rospatent Mr. Yury Zubov took part in the meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture.

Mr. Zubov noted that the Eurasian system of legal protection of inventions is highly appreciated by the right holders. As the Eurasian system of industrial design protection is in its second year of operation, the Administrative Council of the EAPO continues to work on the development of the regulatory framework of the regional protection systems.

Furthermore, patenting is being digitalized. New information systems of Rospatent will allow to implement a full-fledged interfacing of Rospatent’s information systems with the Eurasian Patent Organization. In addition, since recently the Eurasian applicants may include 3D models in the application materials. In implementing 3D models, EAPO relied on the experience of Rospatent.

The 46th Session of the WIPO Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications

Rospatent took part in the 46th Session of the WIPO Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications, held in hybrid format in Geneva on November 21-23, 2022.

Key issues at the session were concerned the convening of a Diplomatic Conference for the adoption of the Design Law Treaty (DLT), as well as issues related to national brand protection in WIPO member states.

Method of lymphotropin isolation from disulfin blue industrial dye

Patent number: 2782930

The use of color lymphography can significantly reduce the risks of surgical operations, because this method visualizes lymph nodes – the likely collectors of tumor cells, which significantly increases the precision of surgical manipulations. Сolor lymphography uses special dyes which must be harmless when applied on lymphatic nodes.

Researchers from National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation have described in their patent special conditions of dye purification which allow obtaining a pure dye quickly. The proposed method is easy to perform and can be used both in laboratory conditions and on an industrial scale.

Committee on WIPO Standards: the 10th Session Concluded

On behalf of the Russian Federation Rospatent participated in the 10th session of the Committee on WIPO Standards (CWS), held in Geneva from 21 to 25 November 2022 in a hybrid format.

Yet another Russian university was accredited to perform preliminary evaluation of patentability of inventions.

The Southern Federal University (SFedU) was accredited by Rospatent, receiving the right to conduct preliminary evaluation of the patentability of inventions and utility models. The SFedU became the third university to receive this accreditation along with the Ogarev Mordovia State University and the Volgograd State Medical University.

SFedU representatives have successfully completed training at the Federal Institute of Industrial Property and passed qualification exams in patent search and evaluation of patentability of inventions and utility models. Now the SFedU, a major research center of the Rostov region and the whole south of Russia, will be able to conduct preliminary patent examination.
