Spam calls blocker

Spam calls is an annoyance which probably everyone has experienced. Spammers often do not use the services of live operators in call centers; instead, they rely on chatbots that make calls to telephone numbers from databases and reproduce advertising messages.

The recent invention of Kaspersky Lab uses artificial intelligence technologies to combat spam calls. A pre-trained call classification model generates a record of incoming call media data and converts it into a set of attributes that make it possible to determine the nature of the call. If the call has obvious signs of a spam call, the program automatically blocks it.

Remedy to treat tissue fibrosis

Fibrosis is a medical term that denotes the formation of adhesions and scars in tissues caused by lesions of various nature (mechanical, thermal, chemical, etc.). During the pandemic, fibrosis has been a complication of pneumonia in about 10% of patients with COVID-19. Some researchers believe that fibrosis is a symptom of early lung aging, leading to the development of respiratory and circulatory system diseases.

The remedy patented by scientists from the Moscow State University is based on components of the secretome of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), which have a complex effect on the regenerative processes in a body. MSCs secretome stimulate the launch of a body’s inherent recovery mechanisms, while simultaneously suppressing the proliferation of scarred tissues in various organs. To achieve this effect, MSCs of adipose tissue are used, since they generate an optimal combination of active components that contribute to the prevention of tissue fibrosis.

Considering both the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the number of pneumonia cases, it is possible to predict a high demand for medicines based on this new invention.
