Parliamentary newspaper: Trademarks will be protected throughout the Eurasian Economic Union

At a plenary session on 03.11.2020, the Federation Council of the Russian Federation approved the Law on Ratification of the Treaty on Trademarks, Service Marks and Appellations of Origin of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), signed in Moscow on 03.02.2020. It defines the EAEU trademark (TM), as well as introduces the definition of the Appellation of Origin (AO). In accordance with the Agreement, the use of TM and AO will be protected throughout the EAEU. The document suggests the possibility of filing an application for their registration with any of the national patent offices. The exclusive right to the TM and the AO of the Union is valid from the date of their registration in the Unified Register of the TK of the Union and the Unified Register of the AO of the Union respectively. ].
