Russia and Germany discussed IP issues

On June 9, 2021 Russia and Germany held the 40th meeting of the Working Group on strategic cooperation in the field of finance and economy, attended by Deputy Head of Rospatent Ms Liubov Kiriy.

Among other issues the sides exchanged views on legal protection and enforcement of patents for pharmaceuticals. Ms Kiriy spoke on the procedures for patent disputes resolution and regulatory developments in this field. Special attention was paid to the efforts to create the Registry of Patented Pharmacological Substances in Russia.

Given the relevance of these issues during the pandemic of COVID-19, the sides agreed to continue the dialogue on the protection of inventions in the pharmaceutical field.
