On 17-21 October 2022, the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) on behalf of the Russian Federation participated in the 29th session of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP) held in Geneva. The session was dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the WIPO Development Agenda (DA) and the establishment of CDIP.

Key issues of the session focused on the monitoring, assessment, discussion and report on ongoing and new projects, implementation of the WIPO DA Recommendations, empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs), future webinars, intellectual property (IP) commercialization and technology transfer.

The delegation of Rospatent noted the importance of the project aimed at empowering small businesses through IP, including developing strategies for supporting geographical indications (GIs). The project covers two crucial aspects: the empowerment of SMEs and the development of tools enabling GI right holders to manage their rights effectively.
