PURPOSE: |
for destruction of bacterial biofilms with the use of enzymes |

INNOVATION: |
Bacteria surrounded by a protective layer, a surface biofilm, are a hundred times more resistant to their environment than free-living microorganisms. Such bacteria show much higher resistance to antibiotics and other medicines, which makes it extremely difficult to fight infections caused by various pathogenic bacteria. About 65-80% of all infectious lesions are caused by biofilm-forming bacteria. At present, there are various methods of combating biofilms but the promising ones are the biological methods of destruction of biofilms with the use of enzymes. In this regard, a nucleic acid for the production of a biofilm-destroying enzyme has been obtained. The activity of the obtained enzyme is 7 times higher than the activity needed for the destruction of biofilms. |
