INVENTION:

Cutoff lathe knife

INNVENTOR(S):

PATENTEE:

Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education “Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin”

PURPOSE:

To expand the range of vibration-free cutting, reduce the roughness of the treated surface, increase tool durability.

INNOVATION:

During mechanical processing on metal-cutting machines, tool vibrations occur. Then the roughness of the treated surfaces appears, and the tool may break. This problem is especially relevant for modern equipment operating with high productivity and at high cutting speeds. In the proposed method, a vibration damper is introduced into the design of the lathe knife to compensate for the vibrations that occur. It is filled with a liquid whose pressure can be adjusted. The feature of the vibration damper allows to adjust the vibration frequencies of the cutting head to the vibration frequency of the work piece in real time. This improves the surface quality of the resulting part and prolongs the service life of the cutting tool.

SCOPE OF
APPLICATION:

Mechanical engineering, turning, production of components for the oil and gas, energy and aerospace industries, during the processing of which high cutting forces occur that cause vibration.
