Press release on 12th Russia – EU Intellectual Property Dialogue Meeting

On March 13th, 2013 the twelfth meeting of the Russia-EU IP Dialogue took place in the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent). Representatives of the European Commission DG Trade, Delegation of the European Union to Russia, Rospatent, Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, other federal executive authorities and business community took part in the meeting.

Both sides discussed the issues of amendments to Part IV of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, issues of IP regulation in the Customs Union and Common Economic Space between Russia, Byelorussia and Kazakhstan as well as establishment of the IP Court in Russia.

Within the discussion of the enforcement activities both sides exchanged the statistical information and information on measures taken in counteraction to infringing goods, including measures within the Customs Union.

The EU side informed on the creation in the EU of the Unified Patent System that allows obtaining the European patent with unitary effect in the 25 EU member-states.

Both sides agreed to hold a seminar on activity of specialized IP courts.
