The new invention – block microporous carbon adsorbent – is used for the adsorption of methane gas for its storage, distribution and transportation.
The following method is used for its production. Peat is converted into a uniform mass and, with the aid of a chemical activator, is brought to a uniform paste state, which is additionally treated with an acid solution. The resulting substance is then turned into granules, molded and dried. The result is a microporous carbon adsorbent that actively absorbs and neutralizes any leakage of gas during its extraction, storage and transportation.
The low cost of raw materials and the relatively low cost of producing such adsorbent, together with the ease of producing it, make the invention of Russian scientists a unique solution to the problem of safety of gas wells, pipelines and gas storage facilities.
