Seamless telecommunication
Fiber-optic cables are an indispensable part of modern high-speed telecommunication. The engineers from the Volga region of Russia have developed a technology that allows to plan the route of fiber-optic cable laying in a way that radically increases the degree of reliability of the laid fiber-optic line. This technology reduces the likelihood of acoustic and vibration interference which can distort the transmitted signal in the newly laid fiber-optic networks.
The technology consists in the measurement of acoustic vibration effects by a phase-sensitive pulsed optical reflectometer along the proposed cable routing route while comparing of a number of indicators.
The reliability of fiber-optic network achieved with the use of this technology can be crucial, for example, in banking information networks, in transport, in strategically important infrastructure facilities of the mining and processing industry and at key gas and oil pipeline nodes.
