Yury Zubov appointed as Head of Rospatent as Grigory Ivliev becomes President of the EAPO

 

On February 18, 2022, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree appointing Yury Zubov as Head of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent).

After heading the Federal Institute of Industrial Property, a subordinate organization of Rospatent, for more than two years, since November 2018, Yury Zubov has held the position of Deputy Head of Rospatent.

At Rospatent, Yury Zubov has supervised the work on digital transformation implemented within the framework of the National Program on Digital Economy of the Russian Federation. Under his direct supervision, 15 information systems were developed in 2021. Under his leadership, the project on IP capacity building was implemented in 2019-2021, with over 14 thousand graduates on matters of IP protection, management and commercialization.

Grigory Ivliev, who headed Rospatent in 2015-2021, assumed his functions as President of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO).

The decision to appoint Grigory Ivliev as President of the EAPO followed the voting by representatives of the EAPO Member States at the 38th (11th extraordinary) session of the EAPO Administrative Council on August 9-10, 2021. The inauguration ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Eurasian Patent Organization.
