Bilateral cooperation
Rospatent’s cooperation with foreign IP offices is based on WIPO-administered treaties, intergovernmental agreements and interdepartmental documents.
The main areas of bilateral cooperation are:

information exchange on IP legislation and national IP systems;

sharing experience in granting legal protection to IP object and implementation of joint programs in the field of patent examination (including PPH program);

exchange of patent documentation;

automatization systems in the IP field;

exchange of experts and training of IP specialists (using the facilities of the Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property and the Federal Institute of Industrial Property among others);
-
organization of joint events, including those dedicated to raising public awareness in IP matters.
Rospatent is a coordinator for a number of bilateral IP working bodies:
- Russian-French Working Group on the Protection of Intellectual Property and Combating Counterfeit Goods (set up under the Russian-French Council for Economic, Financial, Industrial and Commercial Issues);
- Russian-Chinese Working Group for Cooperation in Legal Protection and Enforcement of Intellectual Rights (set up under the Sub-Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Russian-Chinese Commission for Preparing Regular Meetings of the Heads of the Government);
- Sub-Commission on Intellectual Property of the Commission on the Formation of a Unified Scientific and Technological Space of the Union State.
Rospatent also participates within its competence in the work of a number of bilateral intergovernmental commissions on trade and economic cooperation and on scientific and technical cooperation; and takes part in drafting and approval of intergovernmental agreements that include provisions on intellectual property together with other federal state authorities and organizations (the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, State Corporation “Rosatom”, State Corporation “Roscosmos” and others).
