This is provided for by the amendments to Chapter IV of the Civil Code of Russia signed by Vladimir Putin. Preliminary information search and patentability assessment is the first stage of the examination conducted by Rospatent. The same work can be done by the institutes of the Academy of Sciences, research institutes, leading universities of the country and other organizations that have highly qualified narrow specialists on their staff. Rospatent will have exactly one year to build a system of accredited expert organizations and to adjust interaction with them. Just then the signed amendments will come into force.
