In the interview to Rossiiskaya Gazeta head of Rospatent Grigory Ivliev noted that Crimean inventors file very high quality applications. In 2019 the applicants from Crimea filed about 100 applications for inventions and were granted 83 patents. In 2019 the Patent Office received 508 applications for trademarks from Crimea and 151 applications – from Sevastopol. In 2020 despite the pandemic the Patent Office notes an increase in the number of Russian applications for trademarks. It is very significant as people create new products and services even during pandemic, and they need a trade mark to identify their work. The sector-specific legislation provides tax preferences for protected brands, and within the framework of the federal legislation for intellectual property the manufacturer receives protection both for his product and its name.

The issues on intellectual property protection are promptly analyzed under administrative procedure by Rospatent, as well as by the specialized Intellectual Property Rights Court. In specific cases the enterprise applies to law enforcement agencies and court.
