Regional Brands are a guarantee of high quality goods
According to Lilia Gumerova, the head of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture, at the ceremony of announcing the winners of the First National Competition of Regional Food Brands "Tastes of Russia", the registration of regional brands is the popularization of a product and the region of its manufacture, as well as a guarantee for buyers that the product is of the highest quality.
In 2017, Valentina Matvienko, the Speaker of the Federation Council, assigned the senators to promote the identification and further registration of traditional regional brands as Appellations of Origin (AO). Since then, 74 regional brands have been registered. The Appellation of Origin mark can only be received by those products, all stages of which production are concentrated in one locality, and its special qualities are affected by the nature or traditions of local residents. Summing up the results of the First National Competition of Regional Food Brands "Tastes of Russia" took place at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. Manufacturers from 79 entities representing 508 brands took part in the competition.верняева С.
